Napoleon Rogue XT 425 Review

The Rogue XT 425 is the right alternative to the Weber Genesis when searing matters and you want a premium look without flagship pricing. WAVE cast iron grates and the JETFIRE ignition are the practical headliners.

Verdict

Napoleon Rogue is what you buy when you want premium gas grill build without committing to the price ceiling of Weber Summit or Napoleon Prestige. WAVE grates make a noticeable sear difference. The warranty stack on lid and burners is among the longest in the category.

Editorial rating: 4.4 / 5. Editorial rating based on published specs, warranty, and category fit. Not based on hands-on testing.

What we like

Build quality is the headline. 304 stainless lid, cast iron WAVE grates, and a JETFIRE ignition system that’s notably more reliable than the piezo-style ignitions on cheaper grills.

The warranty stack is among the best in the category: lifetime on the lid and burners, 10 years on most other components. Napoleon’s customer service in the US has improved meaningfully over the past several years.

Heat output is appropriate to the cook area. 36,000 BTU across three burners produces even heat and clean sear marks on steak.

What we don’t

Smaller primary cook area than competing four-burner grills at this price. Side burner adds cost on most variants. Some parts available only through the dealer network (less of a problem than it was a decade ago).

Best for

Sear-focused cooks, anyone in humid or coastal climates who wants 304 stainless, and buyers who want a premium look without Weber-Summit or Napoleon-Prestige pricing.

Avoid if

You cook for groups of 8+ regularly (size up to a four-burner) or you want the largest parts ecosystem in the category (Weber is the safer bet).

Setup and assembly

About 2 hours. The instructions are clearer than the budget tier but denser than Weber’s. A second person speeds assembly meaningfully.

Frequently asked questions

Are WAVE grates better than standard cast iron?

WAVE grates produce a different sear pattern — wavy bars instead of straight. Functionally similar to standard cast iron for heat retention and food release. Aesthetic preference more than performance difference.

Napoleon vs Weber Genesis — which to choose?

Napoleon trends slightly more premium on stainless and warranty. Weber has the larger parts ecosystem. For long-term ownership in a dry climate, either is excellent. In humid or coastal climates, Napoleon's 304 stainless edges ahead.
